Barima Sidney celebrates birthday with kids on Disney’s ‘Frozen’ soundtrack

The African E-News

Originally composed by the husband and wife, Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez; Barima Sidney has recorded a rendition of the famous 2013 Disney animated film, ‘Frozen’ soundtrack, ‘Let it go’ with his children. The song is produced by Kin Dee.

His kids namely, Samantha- 12, Kimathy- 7 and Rabbi- 3; this day, June 3, is the birthday of the musician, who started off as a solo artiste with songs targeting children in 2001 after opting out of the Nananom music group in 1998.

According to Sidney, “after I opted out of Nananom in 1998 to becoming a solo artiste, I found myself in tough moments and it took me 3-years to pull through as no one was willing to produce me so I decided to do music targeting children who through them got my songs to their mothers and fathers in 2001.”

“The notion behind the release of the rendition of ‘let it go’ is due to the fact that I seem to have been too quite on the part of releasing songs for the kids in the country, and also to say thank you to the kids for reviving my music career in 2001 when there seemed to have been no hope of coming back on to the music scene,” he added.

He released songs including ‘Tinanapampana’, ‘Paanoshew’ (hot bread) and ‘Moku nkolaei’ (killing these – a song advocating against rape) featuring Tinny.

Barima Sidney further noted, “It has indeed been a great journey and 17 years of being in the industry; I definitely might have knowingly or unknowingly stepped on toes, therefore, I would like to use this song to apologize (say a big sorry) to anyone I have offended and ask that they ‘let it go’.”

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian political musician has indicated that he would as well be releasing a dance-tune soon, “it is nothing political, rather a song to dance-lovers.”

Barima Sidney is known for such political songs including, ‘Africa Money’, ‘Donkomi’, ‘Sikadieee basaa’ featuring Countryman Songo, host of ‘Fire for fire’.
