Just in:- “Herbert Mensah is not the father of my grandchildren”

The African Social Issues

Former Ghanaian first lady and mother of NDC parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle constituency, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has disclosed that Mr. Herbert Mensah is never the father of her two grandchildren.

According to some of the mediating elders who wishes to remain anonymous, Nana Konadu Agyeman – Rawlings is not only adamant about leaving the issues to play out in open court rather than privately out of court, she is also seeking to give a new twist to the disagreement over access to the children by totally denying  that Mr. Herbert Mensah is father of her two grandchildren.

This revelation comes ahead of the hearing of the case at a juvenile court in Accra for a motion filed by Ghanaian business man and former football administrator,  Mr. Herbert Mensah over access to his two children with first daughter of the Rawlings’ and NDC parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle constituency for 2016 elections, Zanetor Rawlings on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.

With this sudden revelation, it appears other issues may come up to complicate the case aside the questioning status of Herbert Mensah as father of the two girls being disputed by former first lady and grandmother of the two children.

Herbert Mensah and Zanetor

As the adage goes, “It is only a mother who knows the father of her children”; the ongoing case may be treated with carefulness as it is rather the grandmother of the children Nana Konadu Agyeman – Rawlings claiming to be the only one who knows the real father of her grandchildren.

Meanwhile, the father of the two children- Zethe Maia Mensah, 7 and Rhia Lyza Mensah, 4  has never been in dispute in Ghana or in the UK as their official names indicates.

It is however interesting that the tussle is rather turning out to be between Mrs. Rawlings and Mr. Herbert Mensah instead of a simple parenting and responsibility issue between two consenting adult parents.

This latest twist coming ahead of the Tuesday hearing appears more like a political feud rather than a family one as it is believed that Mrs. Rawlings and some other people around the Rawlings household particularly seem to have personal scores to settle with Herbert Mensah.

But in the end, the innocent children are the victims and Ghanaians are disappointed in the low parental values on display.

It has been rumored that the former first lady, Mrs. Rawlings is against her daughter Zanetor Rawlings decision to go to parliament because of its potential to crush her own political ambitions.

More soon after the hearing on Tuesday, December 15, 2015…
